Harvard, Trump Admin Face Off in Court Over $2.6 Billion Funding Freeze

Harvard alleges that the administration is violating the First Amendment, while the administration says the case was brought in the wrong court.

BOSTON—Harvard University and the Trump administration faced off in court as each sought to convince a judge in their ongoing battle over billions of dollars in funding for the school.

The July 21 hearing came after months of litigation in which Harvard alleged that the government was violating its First Amendment rights by using the withholding of federal funds as a punishment for not complying with demands for a series of changes at the school.
