Two people were killed, and nine were injured as a series of intense, tornado-producing thunderstorms struck across northern Illinois and northwestern Indiana late March 10, continuing a trend of severe weather across the continental United States.

The National Weather Service said at least four tornadoes have come from just one of the Illinois thunderstorm “supercells.”
