In Columbia, South Carolina, the “luckiest unluckypuppy in the world is recovering from a devastating ordeal.

“Loca,” a 5-month-old owned puppy, has defied all expectations by surviving a potentially fatal injury to the head. She had been shot with a bow and arrow. Loca’s owners found her on the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 22, on their porch and barely alive.

She was rushed to expert veterinarians at Paws & Claws Animal Clinic.

Staff immediately rallied around to help stabilize the fragile pup. X-rays showed the extent of the extraordinary damage caused by the arrow, and the equally extraordinary near miss!

Paws & Claws Clinic staff exclaimed at the marvel of the arrow missing Loca’s brain, spine, and throat. Frankly, it is a miracle that she survived at all.

But surviving the arrow shot was only half of Loca’s battle. Whilst Loca was stable and in the hands of the experts, the arrow still had to be removed.

With her age and health on her side, not to mention the loving and supportive atmosphere created by Loca’s family and the clinic staff, Loca managed beautifully.

“Loca did great through and after surgery,” clinic staff later posted on Facebook. “She is stable and continues to amaze us with how she has handled this whole situation.”

“She is the luckiest unlucky girl in the world,” wrote one member of the clinic staff.

Loca had defied expectations and amazed everybody with her resilience. The medical specialists, in particular, were both shocked and delighted that they could provide Loca and her family with a resoundingly successful surgery.

Now at home, smothered with healing love and being, at least for now, protected from the dangers of the outside world, Loca is continuing to recover.

Loca’s family posted an update, in Loca’s voice, on their Facebook page: “It still feels weird and I make strange noises with this thing in my nose to keep my nasal passage open while I heal, but I know it’s going to help me,” they wrote.

With Loca’s recovery in process, the focus is shifting to the heinous act of violence that sent her to the clinic in the first place. Loca’s family and the Paws & Claws Animal Clinic are both hellbent on finding the person who shot the young pup. The suspicion has been, through Loca’s ordeal, that the shooting was intentional.

Loca update! This sweet miracle is a survivor! She is doing AMAZING! Her vitals are perfect and she is bright and alert!…
