Due to harsh weather conditions, I-65 north of Lafayette remains closed on Monday due to the accumulating snow.
All roads in Northwest Indiana have been considered to be extremely hazardous as of yesterday at 8:06 pm by the Indiana State Police.
Lake County, Indiana declared a State of Emergency with only emergency and law enforcement vehicles allowed on the roads, reported WGN-TV.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has issued the emergency closures of:
I-94, both eastbound and westbound, between the Illinois state line and the U.S. 421 exit (Michigan City)
I-65, northbound and southbound, between Gary and Lafayette.
Yesterday, a crash in the middle of US 40 east bound between a Ford F-150 and Toyota Camry killed the Camry driver, Christopher Hutchings. Also, there was another multi-vehicle crash involving two tractors, a police vehicle, and a motorist. None were killed.
Interstate 65 and Interstate 80/94 was shut down yesterday night by the Indiana State Police.
