President Joe Biden’s administration would be blocked from issuing settlement payments to illegal immigrants if new legislation introduced by top Republicans is passed by Congress.
The measure, titled the “Protect American Taxpayer Dollars from Illegal Immigration Act,” would prevent tax dollars from being used to pay illegal immigrants. Sens. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), and John Cornyn (R-Texas), along with Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), introduced the bill on Dec. 2.
