The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has tried painting itself as the face of “the new China.” Yet before this, the CCP established itself by waging war on true Chinese culture. Among its first campaigns was the destruction of the beliefs, values, and even history of a country that drew on 5,000 years of civilization. Yet that culture is now being revived by New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts, with its tagline of “China Before Communism.” Because of this, the CCP has deemed Shen Yun a key enemy of the Party and has been using networks of spies and foreign assets in a campaign to try to shut the performances down—even within the United States.
