Desk lamps aren’t one size fits all. Some prioritize maximum brightness, while others focus on flexibility, desk space, or premium features. The best choice depends on how you use your workspace.
To help narrow it down, we tested three desk lamps from Uplift Desk. Known for its ergonomic office products, Uplift Desk offers several lighting options designed for different desks and work styles. Here’s how each lamp performed in everyday use.

Best for: Students, reading, and focused desk work.

The E3 may be the most affordable lamp in Uplift Desk’s lineup, but it doesn’t feel like an entry level product. It has a minimalist design with discreet touch controls built into the base, allowing you to adjust both brightness and color temperature. It also remembers your previous settings when you turn on the lamp the next time.
Despite its compact size, the E3 packs in more features than I expected. It offers stepless adjustment between warm and cool color temperatures, nine brightness levels, and even includes a USB port for charging a phone or other device.
Instead of illuminating an entire desk, it directs light onto a focused work area, making it ideal for reading, writing, studying, or any task where you work in one spot. If you have a smaller desk or don’t want to bother roommates with your light, I think the E3 offers outstanding value for the price.
E7 Desk Lamp with Clamp
Best for: Most people looking for a versatile everyday desk lamp.

If I could only choose one lamp, the E7 would be my desert island pick.
It offers the best balance of adjustability, brightness, and versatility. Compared to the E3, it’s significantly taller and features three pivot points plus a rotating lamp head, making it easy to position light exactly where you need it. The joints also allow you to adjust their tension, so the lamp stays firmly in place.
The E7 offers three color temperature options (warm, natural, and cool) along with stepless brightness adjustment starting at 15 percent. While it doesn’t have the E3’s stepless color temperature control, I didn’t find myself needing additional settings.
A versatile feature it has is the mounting options. You can either clamp it to a desk up to 2.5” thick or get the desk base if you'd rather keep it freestanding.
Overall, this is the lamp I'd recommend for most people. This lamp does everything well and should cover all common tasks.
Sliding Flex Lamp
Best for: Artists, writers, multitaskers, and large desk setups.

The Sliding Flex Lamp is unlike any desk lamp I’ve used before. Its sliding light bar allows you to move the light across your workspace, making it easy to illuminate different areas without repositioning the entire lamp.
Compared to the E3, the Sliding Flex covers a much larger area, making it a better for dual monitor setups, creative work, or anyone who spreads projects across their workspace. It offers four color temperature settings and six brightness levels, giving you plenty of flexibility to match your environment.
Although the lamp uses a flexible gooseneck, it feels much sturdier than many I’ve used in the past. It bends easily and stays where you position it. If you slide the light all the way to one side, the shift of weight can tilt the neck minimally.
One limitation is that it’s exclusively a clamp mounted lamp. If you don’t mind that, it’s one of the most versatile desk lighting options. Even our videographers were impressed by both the design and build quality, saying they wanted one for their own workspace.
