Her parents are the world-famous supermodel Iman and the legendary British musician David Bowie; teenager Lexi Jones was always destined for life among the stars.
Iman and Bowie (real name David Robert Jones) married in 1992 and welcomed their only daughter, Alexandria “Lexi” Zahra Jones, into the world on Aug. 15, 2000. Lexi’s arrival heralded a change for the couple, who briefly eschewed the limelight to spend quality time with their baby girl.
Lexi has two half-siblings. Duncan Jones (48) is Bowie’s son from his first marriage to Angie Bowie; Zulekha Haywood (41) is Iman’s daughter from her first marriage to Spencer Haywood.
After Lexi’s birth, Bowie embraced a healthier regime and settled into regular family life with his two favorite girls, Iman, and baby Lexi in New York. As Lexi grew, her resemblance to her famous parents also grew.
Bowie opened up about family life two years after his daughter was born. He told the New York Daily News that he had “stumbled onto bliss.”
“I don’t see ever wanting to change things in my personal life,” the singer explained. “Iman and I are very happy, and we have the most fabulous baby.” That fabulous baby progressed happily through childhood; her parents documented every step of the way, and Iman still occasionally posts throwback photos of her baby girl for old times’ sake.
Tragically, Bowie passed away on Jan. 10, 2016, at the age of 69. He had suffered a long and private battle with liver cancer.
Lexi pays homage to her late father every day by emulating his quirky style. The 19-year-old regularly changes her hairstyle, just like Bowie used to do, and she makes and wears a lot of her own clothes.
In a show of love, Lexi got a tattoo of a crescent moon beside the words “Daddy xx 1947–2016” on the second anniversary of her father’s death. She posted a photo of the touching memorial on her personal Instagram account.
Iman, championing her daughter’s journey through the tumultuous teenage years, celebrated Lexi’s sweet sixteen by posting a stunning portrait on Instagram. “Happy sweet 16th birthday to my baby girl Lexi!” Iman wrote.
She advised Lexi to “stay sweet,” adding, “classy, with a hint of sassy.”
Three years after her father’s passing, Lexi is on course to make a name for herself. It may come as no great surprise, given her iconic parentage, that the world of artistic expression is beckoning Lexi, too.
The teen graduated high school in 2018, and her mom made the happy announcement on Instagram. “We’re so thrilled that Lexi is officially a high school graduate!” wrote Iman, adding, “Proud Mama!”
Bowie started his first band, The Konrads, in his teens. After a few false starts, he released “Space Oddity” in 1969, and his star rose steadily from there. Lexi, with pen in hand, is striving for artistic success in her own way.
Being the child of a rock star and iconic supermodel, Lexi is an ambitious young lady.
