Close to 90 percent of metro areas in the U.S. experienced a rise in single-family home prices during the fourth quarter of 2024. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) also indicates that 14 percent of all metro areas saw double-digit price increases.

“Record-high home prices and the accompanying housing wealth gains are definitely good news for property owners,” said NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun in a statement. “However, renters who are looking to transition into homeownership face significant hurdles.”
