There are literally millions of stray, abandoned, or neglected dogs that end up in shelters each year. For these shelters, the burden of saving so many animals and then adopting them out to loving homes becomes practically impossible. A badly abused dog named Rudy was in so much pain when he arrived at a Houston shelter that he almost didn’t make it.
Rudy was hurt so badly that he was scheduled to be put down. If it weren’t for local non-profit organization Houston Street Dogs, this dog would have become part of the grim statistic of over 670,000 dogs euthanized each year, per the ASPCA. The volunteers from HSD got Rudy out of the shelter just before he was to be put to sleep and placed him with foster mom Kelly Williams.
