OTTAWA — The 7th Annual Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario Three Wishes Gala in early November raised $120,000 for children who have life-threatening medical conditions.
Forty-four families who have received a wish from the Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario chapter of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada in the past year were invited to attend courtesy of some very special local sponsors.
“Once again I find myself immersed in a truly magical night. It makes me so proud to know with the collective efforts at the gala that so many dreams will be fulfilled,” said Mike Wlotzki, CEO of Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario.
“There are so many testimonials flowing in from our guests. Thank you to all that were part of ‘Share the Power of a Wish.’”
Several of the “wish children” in attendance contributed their own artworks that were auctioned along with other donations. The works from three children alone, Brook, Arianne, and Harley, sold for a total of $22,000.
With 68 children in Eastern Ontario currently in the process of having a wish granted, Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario has an ambitious year ahead.
According to its website, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada has made wishes come true for more than 225,000 children since 1980.
