An article saying that Yolanda Saldivar, the killer of “Tejano Queen” Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, will not be granted early release from prison.

The bogus article was published on satirical website National Report.

Here’s the now-removed disclaimer for the site: “*DISCLAIMER: National Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within National Report are fiction, and presumably fake news. Any resemblance to the truth is purely coincidental . The fake Selena report had tens of thousands of shares as of Tuesday.

On Twitter and Facebook, users were apparently confused by the article.

“This is wrong I don’t care, if she’s sick she should burn in hell!!!!! She shot Selena in the back like a animal and would’ve shot her, again, if Selena hadn’t run to save her Life!!!!!” one person wrote in the site’s comments section.

Added another: “Any other individual serving would have to serve their full term. justice is justice.what makes Yolanda any different? it’s just going to cause more heartache and controversy. if released this world is going to eat her alive on its own. God always has the last word and is to judge in the end but I don’t see her making it out here alive.”

Said another, “Why Should She get the chance to lI’ve her life when Selena didn’t ,she committed muRder no one should have the right to take a life.”

Saldivar, 54, is still in prison for the killing of Selena in 1995. She will be eligible for parole, however, on March 30, 2025.

As a refresher, Saldivar was discovered to have been embezzling money from a Selena fan club and she was fired.

A few weeks later in 1995, Selena was shot by Saldivar at a motel in Corpus Christi after Selena demanded that she hand over financial papers.
