Victorian Labor Government Signs Negotiation Agreement For 2026 Commonwealth Games Amidst Corruption Scandals

The Victoria Labor Government has signed an “exclusive negotiation agreement” with the Commonwealth Games Federation and Commonwealth Games Australia to bring the 2026 Commonwealth Games to the state.
At the press conference on Feb. 16, the state Premier Daniel Andrews announced the news, saying that whilst the government has not started bidding yet, they will now begin to assess the viability of hosting the event.
