Iran and the United States held talks in Oman on April 12, for what U.S. President Donald Trump has set up to be a high-stakes negotiation over Iran’s nuclear program.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi was leading Iran’s delegation while Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff was heading the U.S. side. The talks were the first between Iran and a Trump administration, including his first term from 2017 to 2021.
