U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra said he hopes a deal on tariffs will be reached soon between his country and Canada, but suggested some tariffs could still remain in place afterward.

In an interview with Global News aired on May 11, Hoekstra pointed to the trade agreement his country reached with the United Kingdom last week, in which the United States maintained its 10 percent duties on many British goods.
