The Town of Jasper has issued a clarification on the intent of its wildfire recovery report released last week, saying that much of the media coverage misrepresented its broader findings and politicized the document.

The town said in a July 21 statement that the “After-Action Review” report on last year’s wildfire, released on July 17, was intended to evaluate the municipality’s emergency planning framework and its role during the fires, not to assess the actions or contributions of the provincial government.
