CALGARY—A flea market vendor told a Calgary manslaughter trial Monday that he was so troubled by the sight of a shuffling five-year-old with a head bandage that he called social workers.

Allan Perdomo Lopez, who is 59, is charged in the July 2015 death of his grandson Eneas Emilio Perdomo, who went by Emilio.
