The RCMP’s counter-terrorism unit conducted search operations in the Quebec City area, specifically targeting an individual with connections to the Valcartier military base.

The searches, carried out at private residences on Jan. 10 and 11, were part of the integrated national security enforcement team’s efforts to monitor and counteract terrorist group activities, as first reported by the CBC.

Erique Gasse, an RCMP spokesperson, revealed to the CBC that the investigation involved not only an employee from CFB Valcartier but also an external vehicle. The base, located northwest of Quebec City, had initially been informed that a search might be necessary, but it ultimately did not occur.

The Epoch Times contacted the RCMP for comment but did not hear back by press time.

Additional searches were conducted at another location in the region, though the RCMP did not disclose if these operations are still active.

According to the CBC, Mr. Gasse emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation, stating that further details regarding the allegations or the operation could not be provided at the moment.

While there have been no arrests, individuals are being questioned, and no one is currently in custody.

The CBC reported that the Canadian Armed Forces are cooperating fully with the RCMP, as confirmed by a National Defence spokesperson, who also stated that military police are supporting the RCMP in this matter.
