Quebec has lowered its electric vehicle (EV) sales target, stating that EVs must account for 80 percent of new vehicle sales by 2035 instead of the original goal of 100 percent.

Quebec Environment Minister Pascale Déry said in a June 11 statement on X that the recent increase in energy prices meant the government needed to “strike a balance” between maintaining Quebec’s position as a leading North American EV market and accounting for market realities and regional needs.
