Ontario Weighs Ban on Cellphones, Social Media in Schools

Ontario is considering a “outright ban” on cellphones, along with tighter restrictions on social media and artificial intelligence use, in schools, the province’s education minister said.

Ontario Education Minister Paul Calandra said during an April 28 news conference that allowing students access to phones and social media at school has not been beneficial, adding that education ministers across Canada broadly agree on the issue.
