Police say they have arrested a man for driving his motorhome onto an active runway at the Abbotsford International Airport in southern B.C.
The alleged incident took place on the afternoon of July 25 when police say they responded to a motorhome that had crashed through a perimeter fence and entered the airport runway.
Officers subsequently arrested a 53-year-old Abbotsford resident without incident, according to police, who noted that the investigation is still in its early stages. Authorities have not released the identity of the man and have not offered a possible cause of him driving the RV onto the airport runway at this time.
No injuries were reported in the incident, according to police, who said that airport operations were “briefly disrupted” due to the incident but have since gone back to normal.
Investigators are calling on witnesses who observed the incident or have footage of it to contact them.
