The cease-fire between India and Pakistan announced on May 10 appeared to have been short-lived as reports of continued fighting between the two nations in the Kashmir region were confirmed by India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

“For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening between the directors general of military operations of India and Pakistan,” he said in an update shared after 11 p.m. New Delhi time. “This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today.”
