Meta has been fined 797 million euros ($840 million) by the European Commission for “abusive practices” which unfairly benefited Facebook Marketplace.

In a statement published on Nov. 14, the commission said it had fined the U.S. tech giant, “for breaching EU antitrust rules by tying its online classified ads service Facebook Marketplace to its personal social network Facebook and by imposing unfair trading conditions on other online classified ads service providers.”
