The Canadian economy added a net 17,500 jobs in October, fewer than expected, while the jobless rate edged up to a 21-month high of 5.7 percent, Statistics Canada data showed on Nov. 3.
Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast a net gain of 22,500 jobs and for the unemployment rate to tick up to 5.6 percent from 5.5 percent in September.
