A woman from Perth, Australia, thought she had a burst appendix when she felt sharp pains in her abdomen.
Jayde Lawrence, 27 and her partner Kurt Lawrence raced to a Perth hospital where they discovered that her appendix actually had no problems.
Four pushes were all it took. Jax was born weighing 3.3 kilograms (7 pounds, 4 ounces).
The couple admits they were shocked but said they are “over the moon” with their second child.
“It’s hard to process something when you have 15 minutes to go from being a normal person to laying in a bed being told you’re about to give birth to a small human you had no idea you created,” Jayde told 9 News.
According to 9 News, the birth was against all odds because Jayde has olycystic ovarian syndrome, which makes it hard for her to conceive. It also causes risks in carrying a baby to full term.
The family already has a 2-year-old daughter. Jayde said in the past few months she had taken two pregnancy tests but both came back negative. She didn’t feel any major symptoms.
Jayde and her husband did want a second child but they had planned on waiting one more year.
“I couldn’t comprehend it to start with... I’m happy, I’m over the moon,” Kurt told 9 News.
“I was a bit sad that Kurt couldn’t be there in time for the birth of our son because it all happened so fast. I just kept thinking about how he would react to the news,” Kayne said.
“He burst into tears when I told him over the phone,” she added.
