On Thursday, June 19, Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance announced the indictment of 27-year-old, Kryzie King for the murder of four-year-old Myls Dobson.

Based on court statements and Thursday’s indictment, Myls was placed in King’s care at her West 48th Street apartment on December 17, 2013. Over the course of three weeks, it is alleged that King assaulted Myls repeatedly, binding his hands and feet, burning him with a hot oven rack, and locking him outside in exceedingly low temperatures.

NYPD officers went to King’s home on January 18 in response to a 911 call that she had made. They found the four-year-old emaciated, burned, and bruised. He was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital where medical staff pronounced him dead.

Indictment

King is indicted on charges of assault, attempted assault, and murder in the second degree.

Vance vowed to make every effort to ensure that justice is served in memory of the four-year-old child. He urged anyone who has information about a child being abused to contact the Child Abuse Hotline—212-335-4308.

Child abuse concerns can also be reported to the Manhattan Family Justice Centre at 80 Centre Street.
