After a painstaking three-year-long project, Laurel Shadine decided she deserved to treat herself and attend to something she had neglected for far too long: her looks. To do this, she sought help from the famous makeover personality Christopher Hopkins, also known as The Makeover Guy.
The hair and makeup guru gave Shadine a fantastic new look and taught her how to do her makeup all over again. He then posted the video of her transformation on his popular YouTube channel, and it’s a delight to watch.
MAKEOVERGUY Appearance Studios is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is run by Hopkins, an author and media personality. What sets him apart from others in his profession is that throughout a 30-year-long career, his primary focus was to help mature women look and feel beautiful. He portrays dramatic transformations of his clients on his popular YouTube channel. His work brings out their inherent beauty and helps them realize that age is indeed but a number.
In the “before” shot, Shadine looks very much like a woman who’s neglected her looks in favor of work. Her long curly hair is dull and thinning. She isn’t wearing any makeup. But her charming personality and sense of humor shine through over the course of the short clip.
At one point, she states, “The only thing we are missing is like mimosas or something.” And to her delight, Christopher offers her a mimosa! Now that is the definition of excellent service! Laurel delightedly exclaims, “I didn’t know that was an option.”
However, her reaction to the reveal of her transformation is a joy to watch. She looks 10 years younger with tasteful makeup on and her naturally curly hair shortened and full of volume. Laurel then says that when she was a young woman, she knew how to do her hair and makeup, but as time went on, it petered out.
Laurel’s fabulous transformation was obviously very popular on YouTube. The video garnered over 200,000 views and hundreds of comments from people admiring her new look and applauding her personality. Many commenters were also thrilled that she was offered a mimosa!
“I want to look the best I can, I’m not trying to look 30, but I don’t wanna be 70,” Laurel said when discussing what she had hoped to achieve from the makeover.
As for her husband’s reaction to her brand-new look, the woman is sure he’ll be thrilled. “A few years ago, I went to beauty school and ended up walking out with purple hair,” she explains. “And his comment was, ‘I lived with the purple, I can live with everything.’ I think he’ll like this.”
