The bullet is known by some as the world’s deadliest bullet, and what it does to a cement block shows how powerful it can be.
The Radically Invasive Projectile (R.I.P.) was created by the G2 Research company, which also makes handguns and rifles.
Intended to splinter into eight eviscerating shards, the R.I.P. was first shown to the public in Las Vegas in January 2014.
The company explains on its website that the projectile was finely tuned to stay solid in one medium but react as a fragmenting bullet through a different medium.
“It is capable of going through barriers such as sheet rock, plywood, sheet metal or glass and still performs its original intent. The bullet shreds through solid objects and only then, expands its energy,” it says.
“This performance could prove to be very effective for law enforcement that may be in a situation where the target is behind such an obstacle whereas more energy will be carried into the intended target and not lost in the obstacle.”
G2 Research President Cliff Brown told The Blaze that he wanted to make a bullet that would stop a human with only one shot.
“I’ve been in the ammunition business for many years and I wanted to create a round that would work well against a home intruder—there were so many stories out there about a woman trying to defend her home and having to shoot someone five or six times and they'd still come after her, we wanted to create an effective one-shot manstopper.”
