The holiday season is official—President Donald Trump and First lady Melania Trump received the 2018 White House Christmas Tree.

In a traditional manner, a horse and carriage delivered the tree to the North Portico of the White House.

As a military band played Christmas carols in the background, the festively dressed President and First Lady walked hand in hand and inspected the tree.

Journeyed from Mountain Top Fraser Fir farm in Newland, North Carolina, this year’s tree will be displayed in the Blue Room of the White House.

The 19.5-foot tall tree is not just any other tree. Each year, the White House Christmas tree needs to successfully go through a selection process before getting shipped to the White House. The National Christmas Tree Association has been providing the White House Christmas tree since 1966.

Ahead of Their White House Pardon, Turkeys Relax at a Luxury Hotel

Out of all the things to expect at a hotel, two live turkeys wouldn’t be on that list. But that’s exactly what happened when two lucky turkeys strutted their way into a Washington hotel on Nov. 19.

While many such birds are eaten on the day of Thanksgiving, these two turkeys, named Peas and Carrot, were given a pardon from being someone’s dinner feast.

It’s an annual event that takes place at the White House, and it dates back to the 1940s.

The aforementioned turkeys were two out of 50 turkeys raised by Anabaptist Hutterites on a South Dakota farm.
