A woman who was caught littering on video in Colorado has been cited by police—after it went viral just days after circulating on social media.
The video, posted last Sunday on Dec. 10 by the “Woodland Park Underground” Facebook page, seems to show a woman littering in the parking lot of Applejack Wine and Spirits, a liquor store.
The post was titled: “Just because you are not in Texas anymore does not mean you can just trash Colorado… #TexasWoman trashing Colorado.”
According to NBC affiliate 9News, the store is located near the Interstate 70 and West 32nd Avenue.
Social media users rallied for justice in the comments under the video, as it gained over 20,937 shares and nearly 1 million views as of writing on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 12.
The woman—whose identity has not been revealed by authorities—later got tracked down by Wheat Ridge Police.
In an update posted on Facebook, the police said the woman has been issued a summons.
“Thanks for all the notifications regarding the person who left a number of cups/pieces of trash outside her car in the Applejack’s parking lot,” the statement reads.
Police did not give any further details if the woman was fined or not.
Some people took particular issue with the woman’s Texas license plate, while others pointed out that not all Texans behave the same way.
Other’s pointed out that the woman deserved a harsher penalty, such as a fine.
