Video: Firefighter Crawls Across Frozen Lake to Rescue Terrified Dog Trapped in Icy Lake

A dramatic video has recently surfaced online of the intense moment a pair of intrepid and brave firefighters attempt to save a poor dog from an icy lake that it has fallen into and is struggling frantically to get out of.

In the video we watch as the poor pooch flounders in the freezing water, barking in desperation. A firefighter then appears inching towards the stricken animal on all fours, safety harness around his waist. We watch as he reassures the animal but for one heart stopping moment the dog disappears below the water line before fortunately reappearing as it begins to fight the icy current again.

Another firefighter then arrives and fearlessly jumps in the water next to the worried animal and attempts to retrieve it from the water.

Over and over the two brave firefighters try to lift the dog who is in such a stressful state that it barks and nips at its wood be saviours, unsure if they are helping or hindering it’s escape.

It seems as if all hope is lost and the firefighters look at the other helpers on the safety of the shore in desperation, unsure what more they can do.

A stretcher is then sent their way and they with more defiant effort and ignoring the freezing cold themselves, the two men attempt to use it to prize the dog out of the water and to the safety of the solid ice above.

Initially their attempts seem fruitless until with one final gargantuan effort, the dog is lifted from the water where it staggers away on unsteady and clearly almost frozen legs.
