Vice Ganda filed an affidavit in the Roxanne Cabanero case in support of Vhong Navarro, his fellow co-host on the ABS-CBN program “It’s Showtime.”
Cabanero, 24, claims that Navarro raped her in 2010.
She says that Navarro picked her up at her hotel in Pasig City, drove her to a remote area, and raped her. She was a beauty pageant contestant at the time.
No one witnessed the incident, Cabanero says, and she waited this long to file the complaint because she got inspired by Deniece Cornejo, who also recently filed a rape complaint against Navarro.
That case appears to point to Navarro’s story that he was set up and blackmailed.
The Cabanero case allegedly took place on April 24, 2010.
Ganda said in his affidavit that Navarro was a guest performer at his concert at Island Cove Resort in Cavite province when the alleged rape happened.
Cabanero’s legal counsel Virgilio Batalla dismissed the affidavit, though, saying that his client never mentioned the date that the alleged abuse took place.
“It will not affect our case,” Batalla said, reported the Philippine Inquirer. “That’s just their interpretation. (Navarro’s camp) is just using this for publicity. They’re trying to show that Vhong is innocent.”
