As the number of scam calls increases people are getting more and more frustrated by the intrusion and that includes sales representatives who come knocking at your door. The number of scams actually increases during the spring and summer months because the scammers tend to hire seasonal workers. Some of them were trained to pay extra attention to your outdoor alarm system sign.

“They will come to you and say, ‘You’ll need to upgrade your system. I am from that company,’ or ‘That company is out of business, you’re no longer being monitored so we want to offer you a new contract.’ What happens is, none of that is true,” said Marti Shaffer, enforcement manager of Bureau of Security & Investigative Services (BSIS 916-322-4000).
