SOUTH PASADENA—The first indication this year of West Nile virus circulating in Los Angeles County was detected in a dead crow collected in South Pasadena, the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District (MVCD) announced June 7.

West Nile virus is spread to people through the bite of an infected mosquito. Birds can become sick from the virus, but do not spread the virus directly to people.
