Trump Urges Bondi to Take Action Against Comey, Schiff, James

His push for legal action was made just after he nominated Lindsey Halligan for U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

President Donald Trump on Sept. 20 urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to take action against former FBI Director James Comey, Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), and New York Attorney General Leticia James.

“I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, ’same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam “Shifty” Schiff, Leticia??? They’re all guilty, ... but nothing is going to be done,’ Trump said in a Truth Social post directed at the attorney general.

“We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility,” he added. ”They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!”

His comments were made two hours after he nominated Lindsey Halligan as the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, a position he said was almost given to “a Democrat supported U.S. Attorney, in Virginia, with a really bad Republican past.”

Erik Siebert had been filling the U.S. attorney role in an interim status, but had not been confirmed by the Senate. Trump said that he was fired, and that “two of the worst Dem Senators” supported him.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Lindsey is a tough, smart, and loyal attorney, who has worked with me for a long time, including in the winning fight against the Weaponization of our Justice System by Crooked Joe Biden and the Radical Left Democrats, which she witnessed firsthand when she stood up for my rights during the Unconstitutional and UnAmerican raid on my home, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida.”

Later that same day, the president was asked by reporters to clarify his statements. He affirmed that he was not upset with Bondi but stressed the urgency of legal action.

“We have to act fast one way or the other,” he said. “One way or the other. They’re guilty. They’re not guilty. We have to act fast. If they’re not guilty, that’s fine. If they are guilty or if they should be judged, they should be charged, and we have to do it now.”

While the president did not go into specifics, Siebert had been leading the probe into James’s mortgage fraud case. According to a joint statement by Sens. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Tim Kaine (D-Va.), Siebert’s office was unable to find “incriminating evidence” to bring charges.

Trump appeared to disagree.

“He even lied to the media and said he quit, and that we had no case,” Trump said in his post. ”No, I fired him, and there is a GREAT CASE, and many lawyers, and legal pundits, say so.”

The Epoch Times reached out to the Department of Justice for further clarification.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has spoken out against using the Department of Justice for any such action.

“He’s firing anybody who doesn’t seem to be part of his acolytes, and he’s turning it into an instrument that goes after his enemies, whether they’re guilty or not — and most of them are not guilty at all — and that helps his friends,” Schumer said on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sept. 21, describing it as a “threat to democracy,” and “the path to a dictatorship.”

“There are going to be legal ways to fight this,” Schumer added. “We will try to find legislative ways to fight this, but also the American people should let their representatives know how terrible this is to democracy.”
