Treasury Secretary Yellen Encourages Democrats to Increase the Debt Ceiling, Alone If Necessary to Avoid Default

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Sunday that Democrats should be willing to approve raising the nation’s debt ceiling without Republican support if necessary, according to a new report.

Yellen reportedly shared the new information during an interview with The Washington Post. The Treasury Secretary encouraged a bipartisan approach but encouraged Democrats to do whatever was needed to avoid default.
