Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) has not ruled out recess appointments as an option to confirm a backlog of President Donald Trump’s nominees.

That would require the Senate to enter a recess of 10 or more days. Under the Constitution, the House, led by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), would have to agree to an adjournment resolution allowing for a recess of that length.
