Tehran Confirms 2nd Deportation Flight of Iranians From United States

Large numbers of Iranians have migrated to the United States since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, many citing political, religious, or social persecution.

Iranian officials have confirmed that a second flight carrying more than 50 Iranians deported from the United States has departed, Iran’s judiciary-affiliated Mizan news agency reported on Dec. 7.

Mizan quoted Mojtaba Shasti Karimi, a senior Foreign Ministry official, as saying on Dec. 7 that 55 nationals had been transferred from the United States after they expressed their desire to return to Iran and completed the necessary legal and administrative steps.
