NEW YORK—More than 1 million ‌homes and businesses were ⁠without power on late Friday as severe storms ​battered the U.S. Midwest and ⁠Mid-Atlantic region, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

The hardest-hit state was Ohio, with around 446,580 outages, representing about ‌8 percent ⁠of the state’s roughly 5.4 million ‌customers, according to the data.
