August 24
- Yolo County announces road and lane closures due to pavement preservation projects.
- Salinas Valley Fairgrounds has opened a fire evacuation shelter to provide sleeping and meal accommodations for evacuees.
- Santa Cruz County announces a community donation site in South County.
- Santa Cruz County announces that fire survivors may apply to receive immediate assistance, with the help of the Disaster Assistance Improvement Program.
- San Mateo County provides a CZU Lightning Complex update.
- Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that so far 1.4 million acres are burned compared to 56,000 acres burned this time last year. There are seven fatalities so far. LNU is 22 percent contained, CZU is 13 percent contained, and SCU is 10 percent contained as of noon. California received a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration on Aug. 22.
- SFO will become the first airport to have a rapid COVID-19 testing program for airport employees.
