California Private Universities Can Now Punish Trespassers With Fine or Imprisonment

A bill Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law on July 19 grants private universities the same state authority public schools enjoy to punish trespassers with fines or jail time.

The law was enacted as an urgency statute, meaning it took effect immediately.
