ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y.—The Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA’s) decision to stop operating the Newburgh–Beacon ferry has drawn the ire of New York politicians from both sides of the aisle, including Rep. Pat Ryan (D-N.Y.), Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus, and state Assemblyman Anil Beephan Jr., a Republican.

Ryan held a rally on July 9 at the Newburgh ferry dock to show support for the service.
