Police in Kenner, Louisiana, arrested an illegal immigrant for armed robbery; he later turned out to be wanted for the rape of a 14-year-old girl.

“On Tuesday, February 20, the Kenner Police Department received information and began an investigation into the aggravated rape of a 14-year-old girl,” the Kenner Police Department (KPD) said. “As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued by Kenner detectives for Angel Matias Castellanos-Orellana, a 19-year-old Honduran national who is in the United States illegally. The arrest warrant was for the rape of the 14-year-old girl at knifepoint.”

The suspect was arrested on Feb. 25, after an armed robbery left one victim stabbed and taken to the hospital. The victim is reported to be in stable condition.

“The officer’s investigation revealed that a resident was getting out of his vehicle when he was approached by a man with a knife who demanded the resident’s property,” the KPD reported. “During the robbery, the subject stabbed the victim multiple times, including in his face and his back.”

While investigating the incident, KPD officers spotted the suspect who was “covered in blood” and “positively identified as the perpetrator.”

Upon investigation, it was found that the suspect was wanted over the rape of a minor. Mr. Castellanos-Orellana was arrested and charged with armed robbery, aggravated battery, first degree rape, and aggravated assault.

A federal U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer was issued.

The KPD reported that its investigation was obstructed by the fact that the suspect is an illegal immigrant; however, they did find that the suspect used the alias “Elven Locket.”

“Illegal immigrants continue to be a challenge to local law enforcement for many reasons,” said KPD Chief Keith Conley. “We cannot verify if an illegal alien is giving correct information as it pertains to names and date of birth.”

He called it not only a drain on manpower but a drain on KPD’s budget and taxpayers.

“In a 25-day period, this illegal alien caused terror in our community,” Chief Conley said. “We are glad he is off our streets, but will he be back? Will he have a new identity? What other crimes has he committed since he crossed our borders?”

Chief Conley has been circulating the suspect’s photo to bring awareness to anyone who might have information on other alleged crimes.

Laken Riley

The rape, then armed robbery, is among a string of crimes committed by illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds that have ramped up since the Biden administration’s open border policy.

Most recently, 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley was murdered on Feb. 22, during her morning jog around the University of Georgia.

The suspect in the murder is 26-year-old Venezuelan illegal immigrant Jose Antonio Ibarra, who entered the country 18 months ago.

UGA Police Chief Jeff Clark said it was a “crime of opportunity” in which the suspect saw Ms. Riley, “and bad things happened,” he said.

Campus video led security to Mr. Ibarra, who lived in an apartment complex at the college.

Mr. Ibarra has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing a death, The Associated Press reported.

The charge of concealing the death of another involved the suspect’s “dragging the victim to a secluded area.”

‘Joe Biden’s America’

The incidents, including the arrest and release of the illegal immigrants who attacked police in New York City, have prompted Republican lawmakers to call for an end to the border crisis by enacting stricter immigration laws, while Democrats, such as California Rep. Katie Porter, have defended pro-illegal immigration policies.

On the murder of Ms. Riley, Rep. Porter said there’s a “sense of outrage and of loss” that shouldn’t cloud the judgment of those steering the immigration policy.

“But I think the important thing to focus on is—any one instance—shouldn’t shape our overall immigration policy,” she told CNN.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) called the murder a reflection of “Joe Biden’s America,” in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Rep. Jordan sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security requesting Mr. Ibarra’s case history in which he stated, “Criminal aliens exploit vulnerabilities in our nation’s immigration system to the detriment of those in the United States,” later adding that the Biden administration’s immigration policies have only ensured that “criminal aliens will successfully enter and remain” in the United States.
