LOS ANGELES—The Labor Day getaway will kick into high gear on Aug. 31, with large crowds expected at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and plenty of vehicles on the road as Southern Californians look to celebrate the unofficial end of summer.
Nearly 1.1 million passengers are expected to pass through LAX between Aug. 31 and Sept. 4. The busiest day is expected to be Sept. 1, with 229,000 passengers anticipated at LAX. Roughly 224,000 passengers are expected Thursday, and 220,000 on Monday.
