Five schoolteachers have filed a lawsuit against the California Teachers Association (CTA), one of the largest teachers’ unions in California politics.

Plaintiffs Bethany Mendez, Linda Leigh-Dick, Audrey Stewart, Scott Carpenter, and Angela Williams claim in the lawsuit that CTA violated the teachers’ First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and freedom of association.
