FBI Director Kash Patel on Tuesday confirmed that the investigation into the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk has expanded and that more than 20 people who were chatting with the suspected assassin are being looked into.
During a Senate hearing, Patel told lawmakers that individuals who are under scrutiny are linked to an online Discord chatroom that had been used by the suspect, Tyler Robinson.
“So others could have been involved?” Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) asked.

In an exchange with Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), FBI Director Kash Patel denied that any agents or employees were terminated or disciplined because of their work on investigations connected to President Donald Trump, or the events of Jan. 6, 2021.
Schiff reiterated the question, stressing that the termination or disciplining could be “in whole or in part” related to a Trump or the Jan. 6 investigation.
“You’re setting up a trap so you can have a media narrative,” Patel said.

President Donald Trump lauded Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel for their handling of the investigation into the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
“I think that [Bondi] has done an unbelievable job ... and [Patel], take a look at what he did with respect to this horrible person ... he did it in two days,” Trump told reporters on Sept. 16 outside the White House, referring to the capture of the suspected assassin this past week.
“It took other similar cases four days, five days, four years if you look at certain shooters,” Trump added. He then said that he has “confidence in everybody in the administration.”

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed on Tuesday that the bureau is investigating more than 1,700 domestic terrorism cases, as he was speaking before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The FBI has experienced a “300% increase in cases opened this year alone versus the same time last year.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi warned on Sept. 16 that threats and attempts to dox conservatives would be prosecuted following the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
