A U.S. Department of Homeland Security employee was shot and stabbed to death while walking her dog by a United Kingdom naturalized citizen with a criminal record.
Lauren Bullis was identified as the victim in an April 15 post on X by DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin.
Brookhaven Police in Georgia said they arrested and charged Olaolukitan Adon Abel, 26, of Atlanta on April 13 for a series of attacks that killed two women and seriously injured a man. Abel was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Brookhaven is about 10 miles northeast of Atlanta.
Mullin said in his post that Abel was born in the UK and “naturalized by the Biden administration in 2022.”
Since President Donald Trump took office, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has “implemented measures to ensure individuals with criminal histories and who otherwise lack good moral character do not attain citizenship,” Mullin said in his post.
Abel had a prior criminal record that included convictions for sexual battery, battery against a police officer, obstruction, vandalism, and assault with a deadly weapon, according to Mullin.
Police went to a suburban Atlanta shopping center after reports of a person being shot at about 2 a.m. The police found a 49-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition, according to police.
Mullin said the man was homeless outside a Krogers grocery and that the other woman killed was shot outside the supermarket Checkers. Mullin described the shooting of the homeless man as random.
Abel was involved in other shootings that occurred earlier, police said.

The Brookhaven police attributed the quick identification and capture of Abel to its “Operation Plugged In” video partnership. The city described the program as a video partnership that is voluntary between homeowners, neighborhoods, and businesses owners who own private video security systems that record public areas such as roads, parking lots, and sidewalks.
The murders sparked criticism from Republicans.
“The murder of Lauren Bullis is exactly why we need to expand denaturalization,” U.S. Sen. Eric Schmitt, (R-Mo.), said on X. “Her murderer, Adon Abel, had a lengthy and violent rap sheet. He was naturalized under Biden. Expand denaturalization or this will keep happening.”
U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter, (R-Ga.), also criticized the prior administration’s immigration policies.
“This murderer had a history of violence; he should’ve been deported immediately!” Carter said on X.
The Epoch Times was unable to reach Abel or his legal representation for comment.
