A security incident outside the CIA headquarters in Virginia on May 22 led to a nonfatal shooting and the arrest of a suspect, authorities said.

According to a CIA spokesperson, security personnel “engaged a person” outside the agency’s main gates in Langley, Virginia, and subsequently took the individual into custody. The agency declined to say whether the suspect was struck by gunfire or if anyone else was injured.

“There was a security incident that law enforcement responded to outside CIA Headquarters,” the agency said in a statement to media outlets. “Additional details will be made available as appropriate.”

Officers with the Fairfax County Police Department responded around 4 a.m. on Thursday to assist CIA security with traffic control following what the department described as a “nonfatal” shooting. Fairfax police said they remained on scene to support traffic operations while the CIA conducted its investigation.

The CIA directed employees to avoid the main gate and use alternate routes to access the Langley compound.

No motive has been disclosed and officials have not identified the suspect.

The Epoch Times has contacted the CIA and the Fairfax County Police Department with requests for more information.
