California’s Orange County Hospitals Receive Safety Grades

Six out of 21 hospitals in Orange County, California received “A” grades for hospital safety while two received “Ds,” according to a report released May 3 by The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit healthcare watchdog organization.

Those receiving A grades were:
  • Kaiser Permanente Orange County-Irvine Medical Center in Irvine
  • Kaiser Permanente Orange County-Anaheim Medical Center in Anaheim
  • Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach
  • Hoag Hospital Irvine in Irvine
  • West Anaheim Medical Center in Anaheim
  • MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center in Laguna Hills
And those receiving Ds:
  • Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center in Fountain Valley
  • Chapman Global Medical Center in Orange
The bi-annual report—which first started in 2012—is based on statistics and data from the federal agency Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, public data, and Leapfrog’s own surveying.
