The missing Texas teenager that gained national media attention has been found, police announced on Thursday, Nov. 30.

Fifteen-year-old Heaven Ray Cox was reported missing since last Sunday, where she left a note behind stating how she could be headed to California.

Her mother, Tammy Cox, wrote that her daughter had been located and was found safe on a Thursday evening Facebook post.

“She has been found and is safe!!! Thanks to everybody for all you have done for one little girl, please don’t forget that there are others out there still missing. Much love!!!” Tammy wrote.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Texas, investigators were able to locate Heaven at a residence in Louisiana. They found her “unharmed.”

In a news release, the department said that they have not ruled out pending criminal charges in the case, adding that they will continue to interview all person’s involved.

The residence where Heaven was found belonged to a relative of a person that Heaven knew.
According to Tammy, Heaven had been in contact with a much older man before she left her family’s home. She said her daughter was in contact with a “predator who has apparently been manipulating her for some time.”

The sheriff’s office did not mention anything about the possible predator and noted that the investigation will continue.
